Sudan's Unending Agony: Does Anyone Care?

As American college campuses and communities are being torn apart by protests against Israel’s war on Gaza, where are the protests over the civil war in Sudan? I get it: the United States is Israel’s principal backer and one aim of the protests is to cut off funding for Israel by pushing university endowments to divest from investments in Israel and to press the U.S. government to withhold aid. There are few equivalent pressure points in the Sudan conflict.

However, a year after civil war erupted between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Sudan may currently be the world’s greatest humanitarian catastrophe. We don’t know for certain because, unlike Israel and Gaza, there are few news outlets covering the conflict and no serious diplomatic efforts to end or suspend hostilities.
